CBS Sports have secured the rights to a multi-year contract to broadcast the British Touring Car Championship exclusively in the US and Canada. The BTCC will be getting a one-hour highlights programme as part of the channel’s Torque.TV block every Wednesday, 10 days after each race weekend.
“This is the biggest coverage the BTCC has ever had in the important and vast North American market, and we are delighted to announce this long-term broadcast arrangement with Torque.TV that includes the coverage on CBS Sports Network,” said BTCC Series Director Alan Gow.
Alongside its TV broadcast there will also be highlights shown on their Video on Demand platform at torque.tv, which will be available for 90 days after each race.
The news comes not long after the series offered teams the chance to take part in the Macau Grand Prix race weekend, in what would be a multi-class event for the Guia race that runs as part of the FIA F3 race weekend. Only a handful of teams are said to be taking part should it go ahead, however with the increased commercial exposure the series is getting it is not entirely out of the realms of it being a permanent blue-ribboned international event on the calendar.
