After missing the first test in Jerez, Force India have said they will not be running their 2015 car until the final pre-season test at Catalunya in two weeks.
Instead the team will be using the VJM07, more commonly known as its 2014 car in next weeks test with a modified front-end and sporting their 2015 livery, while the VJM08 will not be debuting until the final test a week later with all of the new bits and pieces in it, and crucially the 2015 Mercedes Power Unit.
In a tweet sent out to their Twitter account today, the team said that its kit is on its way to Catalunya and that a decision on who will drive during the test will be made in the days before the test. According to the team the reason for them running last years car is because they have yet to finish the VJM08.
Many believe that this is due to potential financial worries, after the team said they would be running a pay driver at the first test before subsequently missing it due to not finding anyone. Deputy team principle Bob Fernley said that the team will be in Melbourne, however he acknowledged that this wasn’t an ideal start for the team.
“Testing time with the new car will have been limited, but we are doing everything possible to make sure we arrive in Australia in reasonable shape and with as many miles on the car as possible,” he said quoted in Autosport.
