GP2 and GP3 will be supporting the 6hrs of Bahrain in November, in order to make up for the German round of the championship, which was lost when Formula 1 confirmed it would not be attending the Nurburgring this year.
Both championships will be racing on November 19th – 21st, with Practice set to take place on Thursday whilst the Feature Race and Sprint Races will be held on Friday and Saturday morning, as part of the support bill for the World Endurance Championship.
“I am pleased to confirm that we have added Sakhir to our 2015 GP2 calendar in November. Ever since the announcement of the cancellation of the German event, we have been working hard to try and add a round for our Series,” said GP2 Series CEO Bruno Michel.
“It was important that we could keep the costs down for the teams, but also to find a venue that was an added value for the drivers. Bahrain International Circuit was the best option: not only is it a Formula One track, but it makes perfect sense to have it back-to-back with the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi.”
