Grosjean Takes Five-Place Grid Penalty

Romain Grosjean will take a five-place grid penalty after the team changed his gearbox overnight in the Lotus. The teams are allocated four gearboxes throughout the course of the year, which means any changes must be made after six consecutive events.

There were fears that Lotus might need to change the gearbox on Maldonado’s car, after he crashed in the latter stages of Practice One and did some rather heavy damage to the back of his E23. However it seems he will be going ahead without any changes, and without the threat of a grid drop heading into Qualifying this afternoon.
