Grosjean’s Next First Practice Outing Will Be In Singapore

Romain Grosjean will not be taking part in any Practice 1 sessions until Singapore in September, after the team decided to give GP2 champion Jolyon Palmer some seat time instead for the remaining European rounds.

Palmer who has had FP1 outings in China, Bahrain, and Barcelona so far this season has already replaced Grosjean for those three, even though the team has previously insisted to Italian media that teammate Pastor Maldonado is “not untouchable.” This is presumably because of his PDVSA backing bringing sponsorship to the team.

“The plan with Jolyon has always been for a decent line-up of FP1 sessions through the season and this includes the bulk of the European races,” said deputy team principle Federico Gastaldi. “For Romain, these are circuits he knows very well so it will be the minimum impact for his race weekends.”
