Marvin Kirchhofer won todays GP3 sprint race from Eriksson and Jann Mardenborough. The ART driver was wasted no time in getting a good start off the line and attacking pole man Antonio Fuoco through the third corner as the Carlin driver ran wide on exit, for the lead of the race.
Fuoco then dropped further back down the order when Eriksson pulled off a gutsy overtaking manoeuvre around the outside of turn one, moving up to P2. Further back Mardenborough was on yet another charge, closing up to Ceccon for P5 and taking him into turn 10.
Ghiotto meanwhile found a way past yesterdays race winner Esteban Ocon in the ART through turn five for seventh place. As that went on we saw a rather clumsy attempt at taking the turns 12 and 13 kerbs from Palou, with the Campos driver being launched into the air off the sausage kerb and sleeping policemen in the run off.
Cutting back to Mardenborough’s impressive comeback, who by the second to last lap was up to P5 after getting past Ceccon at turn 10. With Fuoco and Bernstorff duelling, the Arden driver was able to make an opportunistic move on the inside of both drivers heading into turn three on the final lap, securing the podium positions.
Fuoco still held off Bernstorff from Ceccon, Ocon, Ghiotto, Parry, and Celis Jr.
