Felipe Massa has been given a three-place grid penalty for impeding Felipe Massa during the second part of Qualifying earlier today.
The Sauber driver was on his out lap when the Williams driver was on a timed lap, and when the pair came up to the penultimate corner Nasr swerved onto the racing line which caused Massa to swerve off the circuit in avoidance.
He did manage to get another lap in, but the stewards ruled that he breached Article 31.7 of the Sporting Regulations, which states “Any driver taking part in any practice session who, in the opinion of the stewards, stops unnecessarily on the circuit or unnecessarily impedes another driver shall be subject to the penalties referred to in Article 31.6.”
As such he has been given the grid drop and two penalty points on his Super Licence. Instead of 11th he will now start 15th on the grid.
