No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Liger Will Start Todays Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona

Today’s 24 hours of Daytona will be started by the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Liger, which managed to set the fastest time in Thursdays Qualifying session driven by Brazilian Ozz Negri. The car managed to edge the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley-Ford driven by Scott Dixon by a tenth of a second, marking the first pole for an LMP2 car at Daytona.

Rolex_24_2_F1WeekendsScott Pruett in the second Ganassi entry managed to set the third fastest time ahead of defending Rolex 24 champion Joao Barbosa in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP, while the No. 0 DeltaWing DWC13 driven by Andy Mayrick rounded out the top five – each of whom were separated by less than seven tenths of a second.

In the Prototype Challenge the No. 54 CORE autopsist entry of Colin Braun was on provisional pole before being knocked down to second by US sports car returnee Johnny Mowlem, who managed to set a lap time of 1:42.318 in the No. 16 BAR1 Motorsports Oreca.

The No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports entry of Tom Kimber-Smith meanwhile clocked the third fastest time, with Renger van der Zande taking Starworts Motorsport entry to fourth and Martin Plowman qualifying both BAR1 entries into the top five.

In the GT class meanwhile Oliver Gavin in the No. 4 Corvette Racing C7.R and James Davison in the No. 007 Aston Martin managed to score poles in both the GTLM and GTD categories respectively. Gavin managed to set an early fastest lap on a 1:43.488, whilst Davison set a 1:47.272 after he got a tow off one of the Audi’s.

Rolex_24_3_F1WeekendsThe No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari F458 Italia driven by Gianmaria Bruni made it to second, with the No. 98 Aston Martin Vantage GTE driven by Pedro Lamy clocking the third fastest time in GTLM.

In GTD meanwhile Jeroen Bleekemolen in the No. 33 Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper GT3-R is second, whilst the No. 28 Konrad Motorsport Porsche 911 GT America is third driven by Christopher Zoechling, with Jay Heylen the No. 58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT America fourth, and the No. 64 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 rounding out the top five.
