Pierre Gasly Claims Pole For Hungary Feature Race

Pierre Gasly will start the GP2 Feature Race on pole tomorrow, after claiming pole position by nearly six tenths of a second from ART’s Sergey Sirotkin.

The Red Bull Junior set his time in the mid part of the session, improving on Sirotkin’s time by six tenths which was set in the opening stages.

Among others, Sirotkin was able to improve on his lap time during the latter parts of the session, as did Antonio Giovinazzi who, despite being caught up in traffic, managed a lap time good enough for third fastest.

Alex Lynn dropped to 11th quickest having initially went third fastest due to track limits. The stewards are measuring with sensors between Turn’s 4 and 11 this weekend, so anyone found to go over them would have their lap times deleted.

Oliver Rowland meanwhile will start from 17th, in what was the worst qualifying session yet for the championship leader.

After that session only one point separates the top three heading into the Feature Race, which means we could end up with another championship leading coming out of this weekend.
