TOCA will remain as the promoter and organiser of the British Touring Car Championship for at least the next five years from 2017.
This news comes after sanctioning body and circuit owners for the majority of the BTCC calendar MSA put in a bid to takeover the rights back in January, citing their success with British Superbikes as the reason they could grow the championship. However TOCA now have the rights, with the option to extend from 2022.
“Naturally we are delighted with the decision and look forward to building on the BTCC’s continued success into the next decade and beyond,” said Series Director Alan Gow. “TOCA is solely committed to maintaining and improving the BTCC’s position as the best in British motor racing and one of the highest regarded championships in world motor sport. Since 2005 we have again built the championship back to its premier status and we are happy that our proven, professional and passionate organisation has been recognised by being awarded this new contract.”
